Cleaning and treatment of leather
What leather is
Leather is a material that consists of a superior layer called full grain and an inferior layer called split. As leather is subject to rotting, it is treated with agents of animal, vegetable, mineral or synthetic origin that enable its preservation and working.
This kind of treatment is called tanning.
Why to clean the leather
As time goes by, sebum and acids that naturally get in contact with leather can cause breaks, chaps or fading. For this reason, it is important to use specific cleaning and care products that improve the resistance of leather to stains and sunlight, that prevent the wear and tear and maintain the leather soft and as good as new without changing its original characteristics. Moreover, in the last few years, the quality of leathers has decreased a lot due to the requests for lower and more competitive prices. Therefore, it is more and more important to nourish and protect the leather with appropriate products that assure its quality and long life.
